Andrew GordonKeymasterFollowing the success of previous Wales Weekends we are pleased to announce the dates for the early year trip to Aberystwyth for an intense training weekend. In previous years we have used the weekend to take Full Membersand offer them an opportunity to ride and train at a higher standard than the IAM test. This year is no different, but having used a Masters template for the training delivery last year, we decided to adopt the Masters format as the standard for the Wales Weekends. The training, critique, routes and mentors will be a well proven mixture, and the weekends will run in exactly the same way they always have.Don’t be misled by the name change, this is still training at the highest civilian level. You, your bike and your riding gear will need to be in good order.Leaving Birmingham on Friday afternoon we will second man drop via Shrewsbury and ride out to Aberystwyth. This is part of your weekend training, and you will be observed on the way over. There will be 4 Observed Rides on Saturday and 2 on Sunday, with 1 Mentor to 2 students. Each of you will be Observed by all 6 of the Mentors giving you a balanced and fair assessment of all aspects of your riding. In addition, 6 of you will be given a 1:1 with a Mentor at some point during the weekend. We will be based at the Premier Inn Aberystwyth for Friday and Saturday Night. The cost of £190 per person will cover accommodation and all the Mentoring.Fuel, Food and Drinks are not included. The rider showing the most consistently high standard of riding over the weekend will win anIAM Masters Course with Mentoring and Masters Test, worth £249.Even if you don’t want the Masters progression this is still a brilliant weekend of top level training!
