Bumble Bee Run

Having met at the National Motorcycle Museum at 10:00, I counted 28 bikes all eager to set off on the first full members’ run of the year. Brian then started his briefing, only to be interrupted by Alan Owen arriving a little late (he is retired you know)! After the rules & regulations were firmly implanted, we set off with Steve doing last man duties, as he was running in his new PURPLE BMW S1000XR (excellent choice).
Back on our bikes once again, heading in an easterly direction, we followed a great route most of which I would never remember if I had to ride it again. We arrived at McDonalds in Loughborough for a tea & toilet break. This is where Dean enjoyed a spot of colouring in!
Once refreshed we set off again heading north-east (ish) still maintaining good progress and trying to avoid nature’s debris (following recent high winds).
The group stopped for lunch at a truck-stop in Colsterworth where everybody tucked into a well-earned meal/snack. Full to the gunnels we set off heading to Thistleton (plenty of gravel on the first junction). This may have been where Andy P ended up with holes blasted into his side/cornering lamps (at least they are cheap to replace for a mere £330 each – should have bought a BMW)!! Near Oakham we briefly took over the petrol station before our final leg of the route. We then followed a cracking route back through Market Harborough finally ending up at McDonalds near Dunchurch.
I think a great day was had by all and well done to Brian for sorting out such an entertaining route. It was a pleasant first proper ride out for me this year, made all the better by having great company and dry weather.
